Everything you need to know about using Torrin
Getting started
Torrin is a debrid service. Paste a magnet link, upload an NZB, or browse your library and get a direct streaming URL. No torrent client, no seeding, no exposed IP address.
Create an account
Sign up with your email. You'll get an API key (tr_...). This is your login. Save it somewhere safe.
Add content
Paste a magnet link, upload an NZB file, or import from your RD library. Torrin downloads it on our servers.
Stream or download
Once ready, click Play to watch in your browser, Copy URL to paste into VLC, or Download to save the file.
Stremio setup
Torrin works with Stremio. Browse movies and shows, and stream cached content instantly.
Open the addon page
Go to addon.torrin.app/configure in your browser.
Enter your API key
Select Torrin as the debrid service and paste your tr_... key.
Install the addon
Click Install and confirm in Stremio. Cached content will show with a lightning bolt icon.
⚡ If content is already cached by any Torrin user, it plays instantly. No waiting for a download. Popular content is cached automatically.
Web downloads
Paste a video URL (YouTube, Vimeo, Twitch and 1,700+ other sites) straight into the download input. Torrin fetches it, caches it, and streams it like any other download. DRM services (Netflix, Disney+, Prime Video, etc.) are not supported.
Playing content
🌐 In your browser
Click Play on any completed download. Torrin's built-in player handles all formats including MKV, HEVC, AV1, and 4K HDR content with embedded subtitles.
🎥 In VLC
Click Copy URL, then in VLC go to Media → Open Network Stream and paste the URL. VLC supports all codecs including HEVC and MKV natively.
🎬 In Stremio
If you've set up the addon, just browse and click play. Stremio handles everything.
📁 Via WebDAV
Mount your cached content in VLC, Infuse, Kodi, or any WebDAV-compatible app. Server: webdav.torrin.app, username is your API key, leave password blank.
⏰ Stream URLs expire after 24 hours for security. The content stays cached, so just refresh the page to get a new URL.
How caching works
When anyone on Torrin downloads content, the files are stored in our cloud. If another user requests the same content, they get it instantly with no download needed.
Cached content is kept based on popularity:
- Unwatched: removed after 7 days
- Watched 1-9 times: kept for 14 days after last view
- Watched 10+ times: kept for 45 days after last view
- Large files (50GB+): kept for 45 days regardless of views
Every time a different user streams a file, its retention timer resets. Popular content stays indefinitely as long as people keep watching.
Billing
How purchasing works
Sign up for a free account first, then go to the Pricing page and pick a plan. You'll be taken to the payment page to complete your purchase. Make sure to use the same email you signed up with so your account gets upgraded automatically.
Billing periods
Plans are available in 7-day, 15-day, monthly, yearly, and lifetime options. Day plans and lifetime are one-time payments. Monthly and yearly renew automatically.
Switching plans
You can switch to a different plan at any time. Your remaining days from the current plan carry over to the new one. Nothing is lost.
Cancellation
Cancel anytime. Your access continues until the end of your current billing period, then downgrades to Free.
Pausing
You can pause your subscription up to 3 times per billing cycle. Your remaining days are frozen and resume when you unpause. Go to Settings to pause or resume. While paused, you can view existing downloads but cannot add new ones.
Plan limits
Concurrent downloads
This is how many torrents can be downloading at the same time on your account. Cached content doesn't count. Only active downloads use a slot. When a download finishes, the slot frees up automatically.
Max torrent size
The maximum total size of a single torrent or NZB. If content exceeds your plan's limit, it will be rejected before any data is downloaded. Upgrade your plan for larger content.
Priority queue
When the server is busy, higher-tier plans get their downloads started first. Standard and Pro users are prioritized over Free and Starter.
FAQ
Why is my torrent stuck on 'pending'?
The torrent is fetching metadata from peers. This usually takes a few seconds but can take up to 15 minutes for rare torrents. If it times out, the magnet might be dead. Try a different source.
Why did my torrent fail with 'stalled'?
No peers were available to download from for an extended period. This usually means the torrent has very few seeders. Try a more popular version or a different source.
Why does it say 'exceeds your plan limit'?
The content is larger than your plan allows. Check your plan's max size on the Pricing page. Upgrade to a higher tier for larger content.
Can I play MKV files in my browser?
Yes. Torrin's built-in player handles MKV, HEVC, AV1, and most other formats directly in the browser. No plugins needed.
Do stream URLs expire?
Yes, after 24 hours. The content stays cached though. Just refresh the page to get a new URL. This is a security measure so URLs can't be shared permanently.
Is my IP address exposed when downloading?
No. All downloads happen on our servers through an encrypted VPN tunnel. Your IP address is never visible to the torrent swarm or Usenet providers.
Can I use Torrin on multiple devices?
Yes. There are no IP restrictions. Stream from your phone, laptop, TV, and desktop simultaneously.
What's the difference between cached and uncached content?
Cached content (lightning bolt icon) plays instantly because it's already on our servers. Uncached content needs to be downloaded first, which can take a few minutes depending on size and availability.
